Week 3 - Part 4 - Sulphites...What Are They?

Sulphites are used as a preservative in some drinks, foods and even medication.

They are known to cause allergy type reactions (or intolerance's) in some people, especially those with an underlying asthma condition. In fact, it is recommended that asthmatics avoid all products and food containing sulphites.

Sulphites release sulfur dioxide, which is the active component that helps preserve food and medication.

Sulphites are a major no-no in Jo's house.  This is because of the 'asthma causing' effects it has on her daughter.
